Captain Lawrence Wale

Captain Lawrence Wale has been a seafarer for more than 30 years. He first took control of seafaring vessels in the late 1970s, when he completed his formal training at the Nautical Training School in Port Moresby. He currently works for Rimbunan Hijau’s subsidiary Golden Shipping Limited as captain of the vessel MV Swift No. 5, which he has commanded since 2004.

Captain Wale travels the coastal waters of Papua New Guinea from beautiful Milne Bay Province to the Niugini Island Region. He transports machinery and general cargo to and from numerous different locations. He knows the coastal waters of Papua New Guinea, including some rivers, like nobody else.

He hails from Sio Village – Wasu District in Morobe Province. He originally took to the sea because he wanted to travel to different parts of Papua New Guinea. When he’s not shipping cargo or taking care of his crew, Wale enjoys fishing and spending time with family and friends when in port.

According to Wale, Golden Shipping looks after all its seafarers well; he looks forward to continuing his command of MV Swift for years to come.

Rimbunan Hijau congratulates Captain Wale on being awarded Employee of the Month for May 2009.
