Rimbunan Hijau (PNG) Group is a privately owned group of companies with a diverse set of interests that encompass forestry, timber processing, transport, media, retail and property development.

The Group - also known locally simply as RH - is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rimbunan Hijau, a company based in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The group employs more than 5,300 people across a range of market interests in both rural and urban locations.

RH is the current market leader in forestry and timber processing in Papua New Guinea. It currently operates a number of concessions across PNG and has five downstream processing operations. These comprise sawn timber, kiln drying, veneer and plywood processing operations.

The majority of RH's timber products are exported. It is one of Papua New Guinea's largest exporters outside of the minerals sector. In 2006 its exports of sawn wood products alone contributed more than US$10 million in export revenue to the PNG economy. RH's major export markets are China, Taiwan and South Korea.

Papua New Guinea's international competitiveness hinges upon its ability to add value to its natural resources for export. Since 2001, RH has implemented a strategy to increase its manufacturing capacity in Papua New Guinea. Subsequently RH was named PNG Manufacturer of the Year in 2003.

Midway through 2008, RH commenced the construction of Vision City Waigani. It is the largest property development project undertaken in PNG. The US$400 million investment will incorporate a residential/hotel complex, a three-storey retail development and a 10-storey office complex. The project is expected to employ 1,800 people during construction, and house or employ more than 5,000 people once completed.

Vision City Waigani is part of RH's long-term investment strategy for Papua New Guinea.
